Pepsin analysis
The Peptest kit is an immunological in-vitro diagnostic medical device that contains two pepsin monoclonal antibodies to Identify pepsin in a clinical sample of saliva/ sputum quickly and easily. Peptest is a highly accurate diagnostic test with validated performance measures of sensitivity 95% and specificity 89%.
No specific training is required to use Peptest but it is designed for use by healthcare professionals. Peptest kits can be ordered for use in your facility and we also invite researchers to our laboratory for pepsin diagnostics.
Peptest conforms to the European Directive 98/79/EC on in-vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices, which is shown by the CE mark of conformity.

Peptest: rapid immunological test for the quantitative analysis of pepsin
Clinical applications
- Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
- Respiratory
- Gastroenterology

- Saliva
- Sputum
- Tracheal aspirate
- Oesophageal aspiration
- Gastric juice
- Exhaled air condensate
- Bronchoalveolar fluid
The lateral flow device contains two types of unique antibodies – one is tagged with a colorimetric marker and becomes soluble on application of a test sample. The other antibody is found in a nitrocellulose membrane, at the test line.
Any pepsin in the sample is bound at the test line by the two antibodies and a coloured line is seen through the viewing window in the plastic case.
The Peptest Cube is suitable for use in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of Pepsin measurement results. It will display the result of pepsin concentration directly in ng/ml in just three seconds.
Weighing only 40g and with an edge length of 41mm, the Peptest Cube can be used as a mobile handheld device or as a desktop measuring device remotely controlled via USB cable.
The test specific data is transferred wirelessly by radio-frequency identification (RFID) before each measurement and can be stored internally.
Every saved result includes a unique measurement ID, test name, lot number, distributor/manufacturer, and date and time.
The measurement data can also be extracted via USB using a special USB cable and the Peptest Cube Reader Software. The device is powered by battery but can also be powered via USB.
