Pepsin analysis

The Peptest kit is an immunological in-vitro diagnostic medical device that contains two pepsin monoclonal antibodies to identify pepsin in a clinical sample of saliva/ sputum quickly and easily. Peptest is a highly accurate diagnostic test with validated performance measures of 100% specificity and 73–87% sensitivity, as demonstrated across multiple peer-reviewed clinical studies (Dettmar et al., 2019; n=1,033).

Peptest does not necessitate specific training; however, it is designed for utilisation by healthcare professionals and clinicians. Kits are available for order for use in your facility, and we also welcome researchers to our laboratory for pepsin diagnostics.

The CE mark of conformity demonstrates that Peptest complies with the European Directive 98/79/EC on in-vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices.

Peptest: rapid immunological test for the quantitative analysis of pepsin

Peptest is a non-invasive and alternative first line test for conditions including GERD (gastroesophageal reflux), LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux), chronic cough, cystic fibrosis, post-lung transplant rejection, asthma and sinusitus.

Peptest enables the detection and measurement of pepsin in a wide range of clinical samples, including:

- - - Saliva
    - Sputum
    - Tracheal aspirate
    - Oesophageal aspiration
    - Gastric juice
    - Exhaled air condensate
    - Bronchoalveolar fluid

This lateral flow device includes two types of unique antibodies. One antibody, tagged with a colorimetric marker, becomes soluble upon the application of a test sample. The other antibody resides at the test line within a nitrocellulose membrane.

Any pepsin present in the sample binds at the test line via the two antibodies, resulting in a coloured line visible through the viewing window in the plastic case.
