The test reports whether pepsin was present in your samples at the times of collection — it is not designed to detect reflux that occurs outside of those windows.
Yes — Peptest is specifically designed for LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux), which very often presents without heartburn. If you have persistent throat symptoms, chronic cough, excess mucus or a globus sensation, Peptest can help determine whether gastric reflux is reaching your throat.
We recommend discussing this with your doctor first. Testing while on medication can be valuable — a positive result despite treatment suggests your current medication may need reviewing. Testing off medication shows the underlying level of reflux. Both approaches yield useful clinical data.
