Woody showcases Peptest in Thailand and Vietnam

Andrew Woodcock (Woody), our chief scientific officer at RD Biomed, recently embarked on a rewarding trip to Thailand and Vietnam, engaging in knowledge-sharing activities that will have a positive impact on our work in advancing digestive health diagnostics.

Asian Pacific Digestive Week in Bangkok, Thailand

Woody attended the prestigious Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

APDW, the largest gastroenterology conference in the Asia-Pacific region, welcomed over 3,200 attendees, serving as a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas related to digestive diseases.

At APDW, Woody had the privilege of meeting Dr. Hang, a key opinion leader from Vietnam. Dr. Hang’s team also presented a poster on a groundbreaking study focused on the application of Peptest, a novel technique for detecting pepsin in saliva, to diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with extraoesophageal symptoms.

The study also included a cross-sectional analysis of two groups: patients with extraoesophageal GERD symptoms and healthy controls. The results highlighted that patients with GERD symptoms had a higher prevalence of positive Peptest samples, with an optimal threshold level of 31.4 ng/mL to differentiate GERD from healthy controls. These findings also have significant implications for the non-invasive diagnosis of GERD, especially in cases with extraoesophageal symptoms.

Workshop in Da Nang, Vietnam

Woody also conducted a workshop for ENT (ear, nose and throat) experts and gastroenterologists at a hospital in Da Nang, Vietnam. The event was hosted by the 199 Hospital in Da Nang and was also attended by a dedicated team of medical professionals:
